Bonnie "Nose" Matinhos!

Our hiking adventure yesterday ended in disaster. An elder in our group swung from a vine, lost his grip and slid down the vine. When he let go, the vine rebounded back and hit Bonnie square in the nose, fracturing it and sending her to the ground. It took us quite a bit of time to get her down the mountain and back to Curitiba to the hospital. She is quite swollen but anxious as always to get back out there with our missionaries.

On Top of the Matinhos Hill

Today Bonnie and I joined the missionaries in the Paranagua Zone in climbing a hill behind the city of Matinhos. The40 minute climb took us to an old platform that used to host a chair lift and a view that went for miles in every direction. It was absolutely breathtaking and the breath it took was mine. It took me a good 10 minutes at the top to finally breath normal.
Bonnie never is one to just put up with achieving the bare minimum. There was a little more to climb once we got to the top, that being the old chair lift tower, so up she went with a few of our missionaries including Elder Hobbs, Sister Prado, and Elder Rogers.
The city looks small from up here. You can tell I am feeling a little green at this point. I still had not caught my breath. Hot day, lots of humidity, and a few extra pounds to shed. Ouch!

Marvelous Sunday Afternoon in Ponta Grossa

After a terrific Campos Gerais Stake Conference in Ponta Grossa, we spent the afternoon with Presidente do Carmo and his lovely family. It was great to get to know them better and feel of the great love they have for each other and the Savior.

Pet Chickens!!

The do Carmos have a wonderful flock of pet chickens. It was a lot of fun to hold them and see how tame they are. The rooster would even crow on command. It did this Petaluma heart good to see chickens.
